Shelby's Take
Many benefits come along with being a high school senior. One in particular: a schedule full of no-fuss, no-homework, no-stress elective classes. So like any other fashion-thirsty teen, I knock out my work the second it is assigned. This leaves me the days that follow to surf through the various sparkling style sites that have caught my eye on the World Wide Web for the past few years. I long for the afternoons in which I can soak up the fashion goodness from my favorite sites.
Upon my exploring, I came across the artwork of Marc Johns. When I look at his work I immediately feel as though I should tattoo all of it over my body; it is quirky, witty, and certainly whimsical. His “serious” drawings, which are done on either Post-it notes or 5 X 7 pieces of paper, are so simple, yet still convey a humorous message. I adore this drawing by Johns because it leaves so much to your imagination. The concept of giving the viewer something to think about rather than to just look at is something I've been exploring in my own artwork. This piece by Johns has really reached out and grabbed me by the eyeballs. Marc Johns is truly a fantastic, inspiring artist. www.marcjohns.com
