Fresh 5-Minute Makeup

When our fave freelance makeup artist, Kasey Golden, mentioned that she could give us the gorgeous, fresh-faced, dewy, flawless look we crave— in just five minutes —we were intrigued. After all, we're always searching for ways to minimize primping time. So we gamely came into work sans makeup, stopwatch in hand, and let her show her stuff. She gave us the dish on what you need (cream eye shadow), what you don't (expensive makeup brushes) and what you can't live without (eyeshadow primer!), all while blushing, brushing and glossing us to perfection. In, yes, just five minutes. Below, her super-quick steps to getting gorgeous on the fly.

1. Slather on moisturizer and eye cream.

"The eye cream soothes and de-puffs."

2. Smooth on tinted moisturizer.
"Use this as your foundation for a dewy look. If you don't have a tinted moisturizer, mix your foundation with your moisturizer for the same effect. There's no need to buy new products—use what you have!"

3. Dab on concealer.
"Dot this on any problem spots with your finger. People think that they need to use fancy brushes, and they don't."

4. Put on eyeshadow primer.
"If you don't use primer, you might as well not use eyeshadow. The primer makes it stay on."

5. Use a neutral cream eyeshadow.
"This is my favorite thing. I like earth tones, like taupe and dusty rose."

6. Define your eyes with smudged brown eyeliner.
"Definitely do your upper lids. Lining your bottom lids is up to you. And don't be afraid of messing up when you line your eyes. Mistakes can always be smudged out."

7. Brush on black mascara.
"Put this on just the top lashes, or do top and bottom for more definition."

8. Get some color with cream blush.
"Put this on the apples of your cheeks and blend into your cheekbones."

9. Swipe on clear lip gloss.
"If you want more color, try to coordinate it with your blush. So if you're using a peach-y blush, use a peach lip gloss rather than a pink."
